KUCC – USHERS

This is a liturgical catholic group with a student orientation whose aim is to offer service to God through ushering service to God and the church.

Motto

Here I am lord send me (Isaiah 6:8)

  • KUCC Ushers work towards the following objectives
  • Support effort geared towards transforming students spiritually and socially hence strengthening their faith.
  • Assist the less fortune members of the society through charity works.
  • The works of charity include paying visits to said group and giving material assistance.
  • Carrying out physical household chores to promote honest, hard work and productivity among members
  • Maintain order in the church once mass or service is in progress
  • Enhance unity in our diversity through service to all irrespective of our social, ethnic, geographical and cultural afflictions.

MEMBERSHIP

  • It’s open to all catholic students and non-Catholic students in Kenyatta University.
  • Membership is subjected to payment of non-refundable fee of Ksh 100 on a semester basis, which caters for registration, subscription and welfare kitty.
  • Membership is out of free will
  • Subject to provision of the constitution, a member may be deprived of full membership or suspended on the grounds that he or she has evidently contravened the universally accepted teaching of the Holy Catholic Church, lack of discipline, general misconduct and non-commitment as maybe reviewed by the executive committee.

Welfare committee

Chaired by the  coordinator they meet 0n Sunday after ushers evaluation meeting and once there is an emergency. The committee has the following roles

  1. Help individuals faced with issues that affect them emotionally, socially, spiritually and even financially.
  2. Manage the welfare kitty
  • Organize bashes and fun days
  1. Follow up of the inactive members

 

Ushers main meetings

  • Ushers conduct a mandatory weekly meeting during which members participate in various activities on the already circulated programs.
  • The meeting is usually conducted at seminar room every Saturday. Thereafter we also have a brief meeting under the mango tree (church grounds) for evaluation of masses and any matters arising after second mass every Sunday.
