KUCC (Kenyatta University Catholic Community) has become a place to belong–

At KUCC, WE ARE ONE FAMILY. . Followers of Christ come together in one spirit to worship and for mutual encouragement. KUCC draws most of its members from the KU students who make 90% of the members. The other members are the members of staff at KU and people from the nearby locations. Thika Road Academy and Juja Preparatory school join us for the Sunday Mass,

Our parish life is centered in Christ’s gift of himself in the Eucharist. We have 23 parish groups committed to the evangelization of our university and the wider society. These groups include: seven small Christian communities, YCS, IMCS, Pro-Life, Evangelizers of the Word, Evangelizers of the Sick among others.

KUCC has become a place to serve and to be served.

We have a well-organized program of social service to the University community. Our needy students program assists KU students from all religious groups with food, rent, medical care, transport, and a bereavement in the family.. In collaboration with the Pro-life movement we help KUCC members and other KU students to choose life, not death, for our unborn sisters and brothers. We make contributions together with other departments of KU to assist in emergencies like the Garisa University terrorist attack and Solai Dam tragedy.

We have a strong catechetical program that includes Sunday school for the parish children, catechism classes for University students seeking the sacraments of Christian Initiation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation, and a program of premarital instruction. Since early 2008, we have conducted several peace camps for children from the various KU religious communities, Protestants, Muslims, and Catholics. Our goal is to foster inter-ethnic, interreligious understanding and peace at an early age. In addition, our parish justice and peace commission works with the Nairobi archdiocese justice and peace office in promoting social justice and a deeper awareness of the Church’s social doctrine.

As part of our commitment to evangelization, each year we send a team of parish missionaries to serve in some areas of the nation. KUCC has an elaborate Missionary Group called Mother Teresa of Calcutta Missionary Group. Student are formed and trained to serve as missionaries. Our missionaries have worked in the dioceses of Lodwar, Marsabit and Isiolo.

The Catholic Peace and Justice Commission, KU Chapter also ensures social justice is done at ensured at the university. The group supervises group elections and sends observers to the Kenyatta University Students Association elections. It also organizes for seminars and workshops on leadership and law.

KUCC has become a place to grow and develop.

Our parish is rich in vocations to the ordained priesthood. Each year we have some KUCC alumni joining formation houses in dioceses or religious communities. Others have their weddings celebrated in our parish and their children baptized.
