AS WE WELCOME THE NEW SEMESTER, WE WELCOME THE BORN CHRIST IN OUR HEARTS TOO.

At Christ The Teacher Chaplaincy, we welcome you to the second semester 2024/25 with the sacrament of confession.
On Tuesday 28th January after the 1pm mass, we are all invited for confessions until 4:00pm at the Chaplaincy.
All are welcome.
In the Catholic Church, “confessions” refers to the Sacrament of Reconciliation, where a person privately tells their sins to a priest, expresses sincere remorse, and receives forgiveness from God through the priest’s act of absolution; it’s a way to reconcile with God and the Church after committing sin, considered a key part of Catholic practice.
-
Process:
- Examination of conscience: Before confession, individuals reflect on their actions to identify sins they need to confess.
- Entering the confessional: The person enters a private booth and begins by making the sign of the cross.
- Confessing sins: They verbally tell their sins to the priest, being honest and specific.
- Act of contrition: The person expresses sincere sorrow for their sins and a commitment to change.
- Absolution: The priest, acting as Christ’s representative, grants forgiveness by saying the words of absolution.
- Penance: The priest may assign a penance, like prayers or good deeds, to further atone for the sins.
- Examination of conscience: Before confession, individuals reflect on their actions to identify sins they need to confess.
